Grain Sack Chair

This chair is one of the many I found at Picker's Paradise, but the first one I have tackled upholstery on. To tell you the truth, I have never actually attempted upholstery, but after I found this old feed sack, I knew it would be perfect for this particular chair and so I dove in...

Here's what I started with to give you an idea of how far this chair has come.

To an amateur, this may look like an easy beginners upholstery job... WRONG! Little did I know how many staples upon staples I would be ripping out of the not one, not two, but three layers of fabric this chair's seat had on it! Luckily, I was able to work on this project the last few indian summer days we had left here in Michigan so the aching in my arm and the near stabbing (from the pocket knife I used to pry up the staples) were bearable while I soaked in the last few rays of vitamin D.

Here she is in all her shabby glory!

I just love some heavy distressing.

Along with the tattered patches to add to the shabby-ness!

I had to add this one because it captured the beauty of the fall here in Michigan with the lovely changing leaves.

Happy fall!

  6. Beautiful! I love the paint and the distressing! What brand/color of paint did you use? I've got a couple of chairs around here that I need to do something to and that color would be perfect!

  12. You wouldn't believe it was the same chair! Love it. Better buy yourself a staple puller if you are going to do anymore.
